Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Changed the fork oil last week. Didn't do any of the mods as I didn't have any news springs to go in, still it's made a difference as the level was low by about 50cc in each. Today I stripped the bike ready to pull the engine and do the main shaft bearing. It's not awful yet but it won't get any bet...

Re: Popping and PAIR system

Oh yes sorry i didnt make it clear. I didnt phrase the question well. I meant was it an indication that the can change and having a PAIR system was the reason for the popping. Of course as pointed out it could just be a poor gasket and an airleak. On the vacuum pipes the problem one is a newish carb...

Re: Popping and PAIR system

Yes i have the vacuum pipes plumbed in and terminating by the battery. Both are plugged with golf tees! The popping only started with the modded stock cans. I bought them as stockers with the intention to modify but they turned out to have already been done. It looks like the external pipe has been ...

Re: Popping and PAIR system

Thanks mr mac. Planning to pull the motor over winter and replace a noisy mainshaft brg. Runs fine as it is but i'm like that...love tearing stuff down to get it right. Ill do the PAIR mod same time. Cheers.

Re: Popping and PAIR system

Thanks for that. Clamps are tight but old seals though. Still, no sign of leaks at idle. Awkward that front takeoff and i have the PAIR valve in the way. Will pull the airbox and do it right. Didnt think of a tie...that'll work. Any other thoughts on the PAIR assy? Cheers.

Popping and PAIR system

I just put a couple of degutted etc cans on and it sounds nice after 2500 miles with stock baffles. Only problem is a gentle popping on the overrun which slowly pushes the front balance pipe off its stub. Well I realise it needs clamping on better but is this the PAIR system characteristic? It's not...

Re: What's annoyed you today??

If you guys want quality paint in a good size aerosol with a professional fan pattern look at paints4U.com. All kinds of primers, satins, colour and lacquer etc. 1k, so safe enough with a mask. Their touchup packages are worth it as well, well IME anyway :| There is carriage to pay of course. Did my...

Re: Fairing mount weights and vacuum pipes

Yes i have the restrictors close to the intakes like carbtune advise. Because there is so little airflow with them the idle doesnt obviously change with pipes open, joined or capped. I will however cap them separately. On old 360 degree twins like my Norton intake manifolds have a balance pipe betwe...

Re: Fairing mount weights and vacuum pipes

Thanks Mac. Ok that makes sense on the mirrors, first modern bike with a fairing for me. Yes i put the restrictors in but was wondering if the low signal on acceleration might let the fuel valve shut. I guess it happens even with no restriction and the valve stays open long enough to even out low an...

Fairing mount weights and vacuum pipes

Have been working thru my recent buy, cleaning, checking, doing the Ccts, tps and valve clearances etc. While I had the fairing off I noticed the caps missing from the tubes near the mirror mounts. The manual describes weights and removal/replacement. Mine has nothing in the tubes I can see. Are the...

Re: New Storm owner

Quick update on my Storm. Have had to fix a few minor issues on the Norton so haven't been able to get as much done on the new lady! While she looks very clean it's been good to get the hidden bits cleaned up properly. I've painted the subframe and been through the back end final drive and brake. I'...
