Thanks et al for your comments Took the bike yesterday to Saltire Motorcyles, Edinburgh. The bloke flushed the fuel system through, balanced the carbs, re-adjusted tickover and hey presto "jobs a gudden". Also booked it in for new cct's The banana flies once again - and the sun has just come out!!!!

unfortunately the problem has not gone away,....its going into Saltire Motorcycles on thursday! Fiteen miles on a mountain bike every day is not dood for the heart. I will report back on friday

A quick blast with my sons bike pump and a football adaptor taped to the end of the breather pipe - guess what, the suns just come out.........i feel a test run on the A68 coming on..

Anyone out there with a similar problem, around town the bike runs perfectly - as soon as i am on the motorway or the local bypass (edinburgh), the engine splutters to a stop, farting and burping as she stops. Stop, give the throttle a handful...all is well for another five minutes and more of the ...
