Engine cutting out
Anyone out there with a similar problem, around town the bike runs perfectly - as soon as i am on the motorway or the local bypass (edinburgh), the engine splutters to a stop, farting and burping as she stops. Stop, give the throttle a handful...all is well for another five minutes and more of the same.....
The bike has about 40k on the clock

Hi Mate'
Mine does exactly the same, ok round town and when i try to maintain a steady speed over 70mph it feels like i am running out of petrol. This happens no matter how full the tank is. She is booked in next week for a service and to balance the carbs, the dealers know of the problem so i will mention the breather pipe.
I will post the results as soon as the bike gets home.

Stu,
Mine was like that after I put the pipercross air filter in but before I got it rejetted.
It was hunting on a constant throttle and felt like it was runnign out of fuel
It was fien when I was accelerating thoug (apart from the monster flat spot!!)
Got it jetted to suit the filter and she was transformed

had problem like this once.....was fine when i left the petrol station, over took a car and bang felt like it was running out of fuel/running on one cylinder type thing.
Stopped - kicked it. Opened the fuel tank and closed it again. Hey presto back to normal.
Hope yours is running better now or at least that simple.

Took mine to ESB Bolton this morning,
Danny the Honda chap (he has owned VTR's himself), seems to think he can sort it. its gonna cost me a bloody fortune, full 24k services inc shims, cct's, carb balance, and to get rid of that fully synth oil. (i may have to sell one of the kids).
I will post any findings ASAP.

Ah.....! fond memories in my youth in Bolton.
Trying 11 times to get an FS1E through its MOT. Is ESB still there?

Took the bike yesterday to Saltire Motorcyles, Edinburgh. The bloke flushed the fuel system through, balanced the carbs, re-adjusted tickover and hey presto "jobs a gudden". Also booked it in for new cct's
The banana flies once again - and the sun has just come out!!!!
