thanks for the help guys....I guess I pretty much knew the answers, but wanted to solidify them. still a little torn though....I don't mind workin for the power, I always enter a corner in the top of the revs anyway, for a quick exit and I red line the vtr in every gear almost all the time so I am ...

AHHHH, THE KNEE....I started this post about wheelies and ened up getting way off track myself, I still can't wheelie, so I put some effort into knee dragging.... First day I rode track, the knee went down, now I am hooked, draggin it all over the place. Speed does help, but body position is most ...

sell the vtr to buy a newer 600? should I?.....
was thinking of selling the vtr for a newer 600. I ride mostly 2-3 hour canyon runs once or twice a week and a track day once every month or so will I hate it? the new 600's have as much or more hp as a vtr and are MUCH lighter and turn and brake MUCH quicker, but I am worried about "feeling" like I ...

I don't have any pics, but I can assure you that mine are to the waaaay outer edge. You do have quite a bit to go. I replaced my factory pegs w/ some racing ones to lean further, this helped. Don't push past your limit, but don't be too afraid, you have plenty of lean left on that bike. Just go into ...
Fuses
does anyone know if there is a single fuse that can be pulled on the VTR that will kill all of the ligts/signals, but the bike will still run? ie: for a track day. And where would I find it on the bike?

I had the same problem fitting mine...not easy. I tried bending the heck out of the flanges and then used a fair amount of force (careful not to put too much strain at the heads) Then I tapped the hose clamp thingy w/ a screw driver and a hammer...still had about 2mm gap. then put some high temp ...

wheelie help...once again...
Hi there, been a while since I've posted....got a new Subura I'v been playin' with  Anyway, I know I've asked this before, but I am having trouble with wheelies. Now I even have the 15T front sprocket and everyone tells me I should be able to pull this bike up in 2nd w/ out clutching it. I ...

Wheelie advice...
OK. I am now to the point where I can pull the front end up w/ ease in 1st gear by snapping the throttle at approx. 5K RPM, then I get a good rise out of it and usually panic and roll off too much, setting the front back down. Any tips on how to keep it up for a while... ie: stay on the gas, but not ...

Thanks for the feedback. I am going out this Sunday and I will let you know if I touch it down....I knew if I was scraping that peg I had to be close. One more thing though....if I replace those pegs, can the bike lean much further or is she gonna slip out me if I lean much more than where those ...

Knee Dragging on a VTR1000...
I have had my VTR1000 for a few months now and have gotten quite comfortable riding it very fast in corners. The bike seems to handle really well and seems quite forgiving, but I was dragging the footpegs last weekend, so I will now replace those. I have actualy never touched my knee down before ...

ART Single Slip-on...exhaust leak.
I have fitted a single slip-on system that I got from Daz on this board, works great and looks great, but it leaks pretty bad at the bottom where it slips on. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I have slipped it on as far as it will go, but it has 3 tiny little gaps where they cut it and flanged it ...

I have a 1998 VTR1000 and ride with a good friend who is on a 2002 VFR800 (no ABS)... As far as acceleration and handling, they seem to be very similar, I do corner quite a bit faster than him, but I don't think that is any fault of his bike:-) The only complaint that he has had is about the brakes ...
