Fitting art ovals

Post by schnarf »

Trying to fit art ovals but can't quite get the pipe to fit over the lip on the main section. It is about 5mm short- is gentle persuasion with a big hammer the best option? All tricks of the trade welcome.
Thanks :?

I had the same problem fitting mine...not easy. I tried bending the heck out of the flanges and then used a fair amount of force (careful not to put too much strain at the heads) Then I tapped the hose clamp thingy w/ a screw driver and a hammer...still had about 2mm gap. then put some high temp copper gasket maker. Still not perfect, but the best I could do for now. I may go talk to a welder.
