Its a real pain when you can't find what it is I know. There is a pulse generator runs off the crank I believe, which might be playing up and could be why the rev counter isn't working. I'm not auto electrician, but I don't recall you mention having checked it/them before?

Good luck

Do any of you lot think the pulse generator could be the cause?

i have no TPS fitted as the spring came shooting out.

But surely it shudnt make it run like this. Ive been told most the time you dont even need a TPS not like its FI is it. in anyway it did this even before id touched the bike, its running exactly the same.

I now remember it had one of those daft triangle bits, like the other guys did, in one of the trumpet bits to the front carb.

Now someone is telling me that it may have caused my diagphram to get damaged thus not opening the slide?

Anyone think thats possible?

thanks

Not possible, the diaphragm is separated from the throat if the carb, so it can't be damaged by anything going into the carb.

But if the foam bit's got burned onto the slide, or bits have blocked a jet (main or pilot) then that might be a cause of your prob.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

A thought. Does the bike return to idle as soon as you shut the throttle or does there seem to be a delay?

I personally think that by not having a TPS fitted you not doing yourself any favours, after all the bike was designed to run with one, only my opinion I know :!:

If it were me I'd get one fitted and set up properly with a multi-meter. If it's still doing it after that you can then rule that out for definite and move on to the pulse generator coil.

Good luck with it,

Chris.

Well ive heard taking the TPS connection off makes no noticeable diff to the bike. Plus is was doing all this even before i messed with the TPS.

New set of carbs on the way anyway with a TPS fitted so im gonna fit them if they turn up tmoro.

TPS I would have imagined would be critical to the bikes running also is there a IACV Idle Air Control Valve that could be faulty, also dont' supose there is any knock sensors to be checked.

Mine had a misfire when warm between 2000 / 3000rpm, I disconnected tps and the misfire has gone. As a matter of interest how do you set up the tps please, I'm curious now and fancy having a go at sussing it.

Right....

New carbs on, tps plugged in, just need airbox on etc and battery back off my mates Mille i picked up other day and it shud be good to try.

I just remembered, i FOOKED my TPS that was on old carbs, like spring gone, bit snapped, etc, But it was plugged in, could this have been causing problems?

I just hope this sorts it out :)

Regards
