Idle Speed.

Post by seb421 »

My bike is currently Idling at 1,200 Rpm or just over when at temp. this seems a little fast

what is the best rpm to have the bike idle at?

i cant remember what it used to be set to before i got the bike back from the mechanic's carb sync up and re-timing of my engine.

1200 is about right. I always think tha "idle speed" means sitting in the back of a Bentley doing 130 down to the South od France with a glass of Moet in one hand and an eager supermodel in the other. Maybe I have an overactive imagination...... :D
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

I would say that's about right. Mine is set at around the same... any less & it's more likely to stall when you are sitting at the traffic lights

FYI the users manual recommends 1,100rpm +/- 100rpm

Hope this helps!

cheers
