Brake Lights / Rear lights - LED?

Post by seb421 »

Brake Lights / Rear lights

does any one know what bulbs are inside this?

i fancy just replacing the standard bulbs with SMD LED bulbs if possible,

i have put one in the front side light and my god its bright!!

are there two bulbs in the standard rear light or just one that gets brighter when you apply a brake?

can it / they be replaced by a led and if so what's the fitments? thanks guys

hi the tail/stop lights are a double filament capless bulb of which there are two ,I am in the motor trade and have never came across these before ,so led replacements may not be available,I got standard spare bulbs from honda.

No idea where you'd find LED's like ixworth stormer says.

I found replacement bulbs-with double filament-at Halfords when my brake light blew

Phil,
May be I'm not looking in the right place exactly, but I can't see the correct type of bulb (capless) at the bottom of the link you posted :confused

Seb,
These are the type you need (as long as they will fit through the existing bulb hole) but are in RED and you could do with white for existing rear light. Also I think you may need a separate light for the number plate with these, but that is not really a problem as you can get number plate bolts now with a bulb in them.

why would I need an additional number plate light on the bike? I wasn't aware you had to have one at all?

No worries Phil, I thought it might have been down to me not looking at the right place in your link :)

I'm not sure if it's a legal requirement or an mot requirement, or it may even be both. If you look up under your standard rear light you'll see a clear piece of perspex there. The light from the standard bulbs are then able to light up your number plate through that clear piece of perspex. I'm not sure the LED bulbs will do that as the light from them is more directional, you'll have to check it out. Do lets us know how you find the LED bulbs if you get them,

Try here http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/automotive-b ... 1_129.html

they do capless with multi leds that will light your No plate. I bought a6 LED for the front pilot on my Storm which can be seen from most angles.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.
