Hello can any one tell me what items i need to purchase and the steps required to Prep my Plastics and Tank for Painting at a Painters

(please no wise crask's like no steps use a stool i can see those coming a mile off by now haha)

If your not stripping the tank back to bare metal - and on fairing / seat cowl you'll still need to wet n dry the decals out

Degrease and dewax all over (white spirit) - Basically in a circular motion, wet n dry surfaces to a matt finish - when you wet and dry with water (add a smidgeon of washing up liquid) you'll see when you have cut through the lacquer as the base colour will begin washing out.

i have a tank that needs taking back to bare as its showing rust, its been sat in my shead for 6 month waiting for paint, and the plastics some have deep scuff's if that helps?

For the tank - glop on some B&Q paint stripper / nitromors and remove with wire wool (use rubber gloves). Thoroughly remove rust, with aluminium oxide paper and chemical rust remover. Don't forget to take off petrol cap and mount and careful of getting any sh!t in the tank. If the inside of tank has got rusty while in storage then that need treating and sealing.

If you feel confident filling in the scuffs in the fairing then I recommend (Halfords) bumper filler*, use a sanding block with wetndry) and refiller if necessary to a smooth finish. If you have cracks then leave that to them if they are doing plastic welding

*P45 body filler can be a bit rigid while the bumper filler has some flex but check with the painters if they are going to bake the paint, as some materials might not be compatible with this process. (esp glassfibre reinforcement on plastic)
