Party Plans- NYE

Post by tony.mon »

SO what have you got planned for NYE?
I have a few close friends over, plus their kids, hangers-on, casual acquaintances, passers-by and anyone who knows me.

But these do's always get a bit predictable, the usual suspects standing in the kitchen, females swapping hysterectomy and kiddie disease info in a huddle somewhere, turning the sound system down whenever they think I'm not looking.

So I have arranged an indoor 9-hole golf tournament, with greens running from one room to another, via hallway and landing etc.

Bought some plastic golf balls to use, so that there shouldn't be too much paint/ornament damage.

If the ball goes down the stairs running via the landing on an upstairs hole, you're allowed to throw it back upstairs and score one stroke instead.

There are a few hazards apart from the stairs, the cat won't move if he's asleep in the way, a drunk person may step on your ball and squash it- no replacements allowed, and I've positioned some chairs in strategically difficult positions.

Luckily we have two staircases, so we can play two different top-to-bottom greens.

I considered making people chip up the stairs, but decided against- backswing into telly being the major problem.

Oh, and I bought a tube of Pringles.

There, that should do it!

Were having a bit of a party here tonight ,it'll probably just be us older folks though  (40'somethings),cos my eldest is going out into town with her pals ,and my niece and nephew are going into town with their partners and some pals . Even my youngest ,age 14 is going to a party ,infact she's off there right now ,but she's no way of getting home after midnight without paying a fortune,so i'll lay off the drink until 10pm , my own visitors are arriving around then, ..then go and collect her ..........she aint happy one bit .
She said 'god sake dad ,the party will just be starting :x " See trying to explain to them that myself and other parents want a drink , and that there is no public transport to stay over ,and that taxis cost a fortune etc ggrrrrr!!

So ,anyway ,probably just between 6 and 10 adults will be here ,plus if the younger ones come home when the clubs shut ,there could be a lot of us,..the problem is,when the younger ones come home,i'll be ready for my bed

Anyway ,we have plenty food and drink in the house ,so we are pretty organised ,infact my wife is working today,so ive been dusting/hovering/cleaning and generaly tidying up ,getting things ready, moving furniture, gettin cd's ready etc etc.............its hard work being a woman for the day,i'll probably fall asleep before the bells

Happy new year to each and every one of you :!: ...................im trying to learn the words, but dont ask me to translate

i cant be arsed with town not being wombles ripped off for a drink, having copious amounts of loons stood on a door expecting me to give them a tip for entering anything from a pub to a bar or club the entry price of a club here is joke as it is, then theres a the ques that are a nightmare, then ther's a good chance that once you have queed up for yours and your mates round that some stupid steriod pusher is going to 'bump' into you and spill your drink then if you dont get ejected from the club after hitting such person with your bottle then you have got that to go through again when its your round.

then its what tripple or doule fair for a taxi home wombles that.

going the birds house sounds like there's a few people going so might be a good night.

Tonight, it's our turn to have the squad round (4 couples and a few teenagers).

Format for the evening:

1. Go and pick them all up from the Scone area
2. Drinks in front room
3. Wifey then dishes up the scran (tonight this is chicken in a broccoli and cheese sauce. Yes I know it should be haggis neeps and tatties but we did that last time)
4. Move in to back room for a game of Mr and Mrs (finally got all questions done this afternoon)
5. Stay in back room for 4 ceilidh dances
6. Bring in the bells wi the telly on
7. 4 more ceilidh dances
8. Disco (bought a wee disco light from gadget shop this morning)
9. Drink plenty and keep an eye on the teenagers for nicking me drink from the cupboard under the stairs!

All in all should be good crack!!

What ever you are up to tonight have a good one!!

All the best

Bob

T'will be the same as last year and the years before, sit in by the peat fire, me the wife the young fella and the dogs, watching the telly till the bells, open the patio doors (letting some snow in in the process as it is snowing like there is no tomorrow) and let the new year in. Then have a glass or two of what ever and off to bed. Like you Timbo I am not a new year fan, I had enough experience of that when I was growing up and my old man participated in a big way  .
Up early tomorrow and oot with the dogs with a lazy day planned.

Here is wishing you all a happy, safe and prosperous new year for 2010

Cheers

Allan

Well.....ours went down a storm (ahem....) last party goers left at daybreak this morning. Ceilidh dancing till about 4.

Neighbours two doors up passed and saw the lights on, chapped on door and were cordially invited to get dancing. Best New Year for a long time!

Aye, it takes me back to my Skye days. You went out for a few days back then.

Feeling pretty poor now though!! Oh well, back to bed soon.
