I considered a van on coming up to yours but the trailer was great-but then again I did'nt have half as far to travel as you.

Looking at the forecast you'll defo need one. If you get the bike back over the weekend I bet it'll not turn a wheel.

The SP's been sat in the garage since I got it back...

It's mega frustraiting!!! But I'm affriad I'd rather leave it sat until the roads get much better. Wanted an hour out yesterday but it would have been ridiculous

I was out in the garage on Saturday and I found mould on the petrol tank, rear cowl and nose cone.
I know it's been a while but WTF. How did that get there?

good work on the google fix for the TV.

It amazing what you can find out on the internet, and you always feel proud that you used your brain and engineering skills and saved a ton of cash compared to those who just go buy a new one or pay top dollar to get a shop repair.

And for this weather, get a van, a trailer would have your new bike subjected to all the road salt and sh1t kicked up in the slipstream of the car.

If I have to trailer my trials bike in these conditions I use a cover but mostly I let my mate transport us in his builders van. Bike is a pig to start after being on the trailer, but 3rd kick with cover and 1st kick out of the van, but it is the road salt that is the worst, those GasGas's could rust away over night, so I have to clean them in the dark after an event.

you were eating a big mac last time you rode it, got it all over your gloves cos it isnt easy to eat a burger and ride, got off the bike and put your hand on tank to steady yourself, then stroked fairing as you walked away, leaving burger sauce to go mouldy over the winter?

Or maybe it is some man juice from the last time you bashed one out with Mrs Pete in the garage?

Lets face it, nobody else's bikes have gone mouldy so there must be some "matter" on it of some kind Mine hasnt gone mouldy and has stood for 3 months now (depressing isnt it? I rode a lot last winter).

Big Mac is the most likely candidate. The Mrs isn't as adventurus as see use to be

I had washed and given it a polish when I put her away but it was pi$$ing down the last time I went into the garage and a load of rain water dropped off the garage door (up and over type) onto the bike when I went in. I can only presume their must have been something in the water.

Actually thinking about it my lad has that same size and make LCD TV as you, in his flat. So I might be glad you've posted this, especially if his has some of those inferior quality capacitors in his.

A word of warning to anyone else having a fiddle....those big caps that you find in power supplies store a LOT of charge, even when the power has been disconnected. Either allow the charge to bleed down (may take a couple of days) or know what you are doing in order to discharge them. If you touch a grounding point with one hand and a cap with the other hand you could get a hell of a shock (that why old sparkies often worked one handed....no chance of a shock running arm-to-arm across your heart).

Don't ask me how I found out exactly how much of a bang you can get off a power supply capacitor.....

The van is sorted, been round god knows how many hire companies and found one thats 2 miles away doing a transit for £58 for the weekend. I think I'd have put the trip on hold if I had to use a trailer after seeing the weekend weather report.

It's not looking good in a van either Mike

there's been a few more inches of snow yesterday, and its snowing again at home, although its nice and sunny at the moment at my work.

the main roads north of aberdeen are passable with care, the side roads are pretty much the same.

bring a shovel with you, lol, you can help clear my drive when you get up here, it'll give you somewhere to park the van.

beers/ciders and a curry are on offer when you arrive. bacon sarny and a flask of coffee for when you leave, lol.

Sorry the sensible answer (but that's no fun). You are supposed to use a 1 meg ohm resistor and put it across the terminals. That will allow a slow and steady discharge.....or just close your eyes and short across with a big pair of pliers, preferably a mates, cause I have seen blast holes left in some pliers on the big caps
