CLUTCH WHICH IS BEST

Hi All got to replace my clutch but which is best only looking to replace the cork plates, all info muchly appreciated.

Is the clutch slipping, failing to bite/slip properly on a hard launch or plates worn below recommended thickness?

Reason I ask is because I fitted uprated Barnett springs in the hope of better launches, no better, tried a spare complete clutch, still no better.
Finally changed engine, and this one's fine.

So I have some spare used clutches, if that's any use?

But the uprated springs made no real difference, maybe a full Barnett clutch kit would improve things.

Reason for replacement is it's right on the limit at the lever, had a look at the pushrod made sure it wasn't all clogg up so the plates must be worn,

Try bleeding your clutch first - significantly cheaper than replacing clutch

Geoff,
As it is a hydraulic clutch, the system compensates for wear, so the lever bite point should not be linked to wear out.

If you are not getting any clutch slip problems, and the bike is new to you, then I think you are just finding out that Firestorms have a late bite point which is close to the full lever release position.

I think most of us here would tell you that the normal bite point is quite far out on the lever travel.

If you have owned the bike for years and the clutch has changed then I will shut up!!!!!! but just a thought before you start spending money.

Bulldog Bash in August is my annual clutch thrashing appointment. Less than £30 for three days, as many runs as you want.

Still trying to beat 11.6, maybe this is the year......
