I always love seeing Irish jokes...you know the ones that describe the Irish as being thick, uneducated and backward. Especially when you see them coming from a country where in some parts nearly 40% of adults cannot "cannot read or write properly or do simple sums" (source: here), where nearly 11 million people cannot do simple arithmetic such as calculating the area of a floor (source: as above), where primary school teachers cannot do basic sums (source: here), a country that was placed 14th out of 20 developed nations in an OECD survey on adult literacy levels (source: Literacy in the Information Age). Funnily enough, the UK was the highest when it came to watching TV......

The only thing I can't work out (maybe it's because I'm Irish, therefore thick, slow and uneducated) is why I don't see jokes about coloured people being lazy or work-shy, about "Pakis" being dirty and smelly......

Strange that, isnt it????
