Where have all the newbies came from all of a sudden? Normally we get about 2 or 3 a week signing up but for some reason we've had about a dozen in the last day and a half? Has there been a sale on firestorms going on?

It's that Bikeshare scheme, are they all claiming the same colour?

Works for racehorses, each person owns a leg or similar.
If it's the leg you own that breaks you have to pay for the bullet, too!
