Post by mightyreds »

:?: while my storms back at the dealers i bought it from 3 months ago(fuel issue)i wondered about the tensioners, its got 25 k on the clock,no noise or rattles or issues bar the above, and runs great, wot should i look for regarding the tensioners and should i wait for an obvious rattle or problem ,before getting them replaced, not sure if theyve been done before, doesnt state in the history, dealer tech said they were fine but you never know, cheers fellas

As the buggers can go without any warning (my front one went at 35k while pootling at 30mph, taking the valves out £££!!) - How lucky do ya feel?

Suggest you replace for some peace of mind or fit manuals for complete peace of mind.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Shouldn't need cam chain replacing

Here's the price of a standard replacement CCT:

http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/part ... 510MBB003/

Bookmark this http://fiche.ronayers.com/Index.cfm/Mod ... _TENSIONER

and then enter the part no. here: http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/part ... 510MBB003/

Though US Superhawks and UK Firestorms are very similar there are some differences - plus between early and late Storms.

Have a search for the cost and location of manual CCTs - Plus there is a comprehensive sticky post on how-to install them in the workshop forum

Personally i'd go with manuals ,then no worries! there is plenty of stuff about changing them yourself...sirch345 & peteL did a great job explaining how to do the exchange on this site
