BINATONE SPEAK EASY COMBO 3410

Post by sirch345 »

I don't suppose anyone has a Binatone Speak Easy 3410 Combo phone set up :?:

The reason I ask is, we've just purchased one of these and the caller display only works when it feels like it.

I've been through the instruction booklet thoroughly to see if I'd missed something, and eventually gave their Help Line a phone call. They said it could be BT have a problem, but it's not that as Caller Display still works fine on the old phone. They also said the Broad band filter I use for that phone could be faulty, but it's not that either as tried another. They did say if none of those fix the problem then to return the phone as it must be faulty.

So before I do that I just wondered if anyone else may have had the same phones and the same problem, but found a fix for it :?:

I realise it's a very long shot

Cheers,

Chris.

Chris,
I spent a lot of years in the retail service industry, I'm not going to slag off your chioce of phone but let me just say, When a Binatone product came back for repair we just binned it or sent it back to the manufacturer depending on the warrantee arrangement. We got them soo cheep it wasn't worth an engineers time.
Hope you get it sorted.

I tried a Binatone phone not too dissimilar to yours a few months back and found the display was very dim (seems I wasn't alone, the display was a common gripe) and the sound quality appalling, so I returned it.

"Binaphone".
Their product marketing person must have been on holiday the week they named that one..

Chris,
Stick with one of the big name brands, Phillips, Panasonic are a couple of my favorites, at least you can expect a modicum of quality and and aftercare.
We went through several different phones before we found a cordless one which actually worked. Funny how our old wired BT phone worked for twenty years and never had a problem  but hay! Got to keep up with progress :D
Regarding the caller id, haven't a clue to be honest. Are you sure it's not with held numbers which aren't displaying? My wives office phone never gives out a number I just get "Number withheld" or "No number" depending which phone she calls.

Hi Pete,

Many thanks for your suggestions. I did however do some research on the Binatone before purchase, and found some good reviews about it, actually better than the BT version.

Also one of our old phones is a Binatone, that is better than our old BT cordless phone believe it or not. The old Binatone will still be in range if I take it up to my workshop, whereas the BT cordless won't work.

I think it must just be a bad batch with the second new Binatone phone not being any better than the first one.

I tried our old BT cordless phone and the new Binatone phone both connected to the same socket. Everytime I rang our home number with my mobile the BT phone would always show the incoming number, but the Binatone wouldn't.

I even tried the Binatone on the first socket coming into the house, but it was still the same.

So I took it back today and got a refund.

I've done some more research on the two makes you suggested Pete, but have not decided which to go for just yet.

I was looking at the different makes in the shop and I see most of them are made in China, just like Binatone and BT.

Cheers,

Chris.
