Can anyone help me out pretty urgent

Post by rst steve »

Wouldnt normally ask but just been messing with my storm after its been off the road for a while. Put on a new battery and checked the voltage 15.8volts :Cry1:

Followed the guide on here and narrowed it down to the dreaded reg/rec. Has anyone got one in the Manchester area that i could prize out of there hands??????

I am suppose to be doing a charity run on Sunday and its looking grim at the mo if i dont get this sorted. Will be looking at doing the r6 mod but just strapped for cash at the mo.

Please help.

ive got one off a cbx you can have bud.
probably a different connector and its like a triangle shape, but it will get u out ot sh1t lol.
you might have to cut the plug off it and put some spades on or sumat.

if no-one has a vtr r/r it's there if u want it.

yam are more reliable than the honda disposable item.
search it here, theres a nice thread on it :)

if the r/r is fkt, you will either notice the battery draining itself and not charging, or overcharging & boiling the battery.
with all the electronics on the bike, the overcharging is worse imo as it could damage other stuff as well as wreck the battery.

yamaha r/r aren't infalible tho - got a m8 with a virago  that was charging at 18v and killed his ignition wotsit.

Cheers buddy - mine seems ok after 29k, but given your comments think I'll invest in a R1/R6 unit
