One for the Visor..It really does work..

Post by Anotherbikerbabe »

I am a big fan of White Vinegar for cleaning around the home as it gets chucked in the dishwasher/washing machine now and then to clean pipes out etc and I often take a toothbrush (not mine lol) and dip it in neat white vinegar and give the bathroom taps a bit of a ta do as removes any limescale deposits a treat :) ...

Anyway, whilst i was doing my bathroom mirror and glass shelves on the stand in my bathroom with fairy liquid, I got to thinking " I wonder if this works as well on the visor" ........so I tried it, and it does.......It goes like this...

Take Fairy liquid or similar, drop around 2-3 teeny drops onto the inside of the visor (we know it would be the inside, but honest,I know someone who put it on the outside! :eek2 )
lightly rub it in over the visor with one piece of kitchen paper, turn the paper over to a clean part and rub off again very lightly....

That will keep you mist free for up to 2 weeks on any ride outs, even if your visor normally mists up,and you've tried everything else, try this, it won't.Who needs really expensive anti mist stuff.. ..I told OH about it, he scoffed, went to the mirror in the bathroom and breathed on it....What happended? FOOK ALL....PML.....So he got the fairy out and promptly did his visor and now he makes a point of doing them both every cpl of weeks are so before we head out

Just thought I'd share the wealth..

green swarfega is another old tip that works great.
buff up the inside of the visor with a dab of it and it won't mist up again.

no good for nookie in the car tho, unless you want an audience............

Is not a teeny bit grainy though? Not that I mind a bit of rough..But wouldn't want to scratch the inside...I'm off, before this turns into a rude post pml....

Timbo wrote:Used to do he washing up liquid trick on the windows of my old VW Beetles as well, as the heaters were like an Asthmatic trying to blow on the screen (Was that a Clarksonism? OMFG!!!) I told someone about my washing up liquid thing and they did that too on their car windows, works a treat.Simples...

Have a pinlock insert in my visor, lasts longer than 2 weeks :) In fact this one is about 3 years old.

Unfortunately, I have a Roof - and Pinlocks just don't seem to work...

I use "Catcrap" and a Foggy - have for years....

use the green swarfega abbs, the snotty smooth one - the orange tuffanega schwarzanega has gritty bits in, and it's orange i think :.

i have a pinlock insert in me shoei raid. but unfortunately it has to go in the bin cos i scraped it down to the bone front & back.
tbh i didn't much like it on the storm, even though it's great at not misting up etc, the problem was with the riding position, and the pinlock insert didn't go all the way to the top of the outer visor, i found myself craning my neck back to see proper.

was ok with vfr bars on, but after the rebuild i might go back to standard.
might try a rf1000 for the next lid - i like the shoei fit and weight but the raid isn't a good lid for a sports riding position.
