Swallows....am i the 1st to see 'em this year?

Not sure if i said or not ,but me n the missus were up at Killin a run in the car on Sunday ,and we saw a flock of around 30 swallows ,which have flew here from warmer climes ,they seemed a bit out of place considering there was snow on a lot of the mountain tops/sides.

Anyway ,fook the snow ,swallows are here ,so SUMMER IS HERE

Stevie,
Saw the first one at ours on Mon 19th, it has been joined by a few more of its mates now, along with some House Martins and sand Martins. The Osprey has been back fishing at the bottom of the garden since the beginning of April. We still have a fair few Pink footed Geese as well but last week when we were working up by Lairg we saw a lot heading up the valley on their migration back to the high plateau on Iceland. It is amazing to think they fly all that way in around 20 hours.

Allan,I've seen a couple of Osprey's ,we saw them fairly regularly when we fished Loch Awe in recent years .We also found its nest,which wasn't hard to find as we were trolling ,and covered a large shoreline of loch,i phoned the rspb,to see if they knew about it ,they said they were aware of the nest,and reckoned it didn't need protection.
Saw it take a fish as well ,it had a better day than us,....that's why we call the loch Loch f**k Awe !!

Have also seen Ospreys at Loch Lomond ,once from Luss Pier ,another from Duck Bay marina ,probably the same bird,as its only a few miles between locations,
Spotted a few geese on Sun ,when me n the mrs were oot a drive ,they were in a field near the 'Drovers Inn ,Loch Lomond ,looked like Canada Geese to me ,but i think they might be resident in the uk all year round.

Ps ,ive seen a few around the village here over the past few days.......that's swallows ,not spec wearers

Had out first swallow last night. Never saw it but could hear it chattering away up on the roof.

I usually know when summer is here, not by which birds i have seen, but when the drunks migrate back to their park benches.

I have noticed that the warmer the day the cheaper the cider they drink. maybe they need to economise during the heat as consumption goes up. if we have a BBQ summer they may approach the thirst level of a storm (15litres/hour)
