Welcome to the forum bigpep
Don't think battery removal would have anything to do with the speedo.
Try Dave Silvers spares for a new sensor. Someone else will be along soon to give you a more definate answer

Hey there.
Can't think why the two events might be linked, just check the wiring from the sender on the crankcase just in front of the shock, RH side back of the engine.
Fuses and connection at the back of the speedo.
You can meter the sender's output if you put the back wheel up on a paddock stand and spin the wheel in neutral.
Doesn't matter what reading you get, if you get a reading which increases with wheel speed then the sender's ok.
If that checks out run a temporary link between the sender and the gauge to see if it works.
If not, it's the speedo; if it does, you have a wiring fault.
Is it the older or newer type speedo? (analogue/digital)

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Welcome aboard BP
I can't see renewing your battery has caused this problem either.

Welcome bigpep! Its a fine forum. Can sympathise with the duff speedo - mine's recently croaked which makes fuel stops tricky to plan. I find I can gauge how much is in the tank by the wheelie balance point

Re: hi all

Great forum, great bunch of guys with a wicked SOH and superior knowledge base, I should know, all I do is ride mine lol. I am forever picking the brains of the guys on here and trying to build up my own bikey knowledge along the way, at least I had the opportunity to have my CCT death all on my own and riding to work at the time lol..I got to see my own bike in my own kitchen (freaked my out being a bit of a neat freak sometimes

But all sorted now and she was made all better by my OH after some swearing/cursing/ and putting my baby back together again. So here is the best place to get all the info on anything remotely Storm related! Good luck..
