Possible light fault..... help needed

Post by spannerman »

Hi all....I need some advice...When riding my 1998 Firestorm I have noticed with the headlamps on dipped beam that the high beam indicator on the dash display seems to be illuminated slightly...Is this just light bleeding from the inner clocks? or could I have a potential earthing or shorting fault?

The main beam works fine and when pressed on lights up correctly on the dash display.......

Also the dipped beam seems very poor..hardly lighting up the road at night....

Is all this normal on a firestorm? I have only had mine a week....

Cheers...Keith

yes the light is very poor on the storm - i think that was the first thing i changed on mine.
got 130/95 h4s in mine now and it's a vast improvement - road actually looks white instead of yellow.
low beam really slows you down at night dozen tit

not sure about the high beam light though???? are you sure it's pushed in properly?? the bulbholder i mean.

does the high beam come on with the low beam? wondering if a previous owner rewired it to have both beams on.
also check if the high low beam button is sticking.
i think they all do! work some wd in it, or take it apart and clean it properly if it does.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

+1 what Benny said.

Also check that the high beam bulb holder is pressed fully into the back of the dash

It sounds like it could be a bad earth. check the earth connections for the lighting system.
Have seen this many a time on cars.
