Just been reading bout the firmware upgrade

The camera will now be using the new firmware version, which will have the following benefits:

* improved auto exposure processing to help in extreme bright lighting conditions (like snow covered slopes),
* and you can now record up to 4GB in one file
* use SDHC cards up to 8GB

Bought mine from dogcamsport for £149. I did the firmware upgrade and use a Transcend 8gb SDHC card. I did try the energiser rechargeable batteries but had lots of problems with them just dying. Without a doubt the best results have been with the Energizer Ultimate Lithium.

hmmm was just looking at the energiser rechargeables....... so you wouldnt recommend them then ? Dont really leave much choice for power then, but really impressed with the quality for an all in one unit.

Especially mounted on the side and rear facing, been watching your videos Its on par if not better, than my bullet cam and mindv camcorder, but that setup robs all my underseat storage, plus a spagetti junction of wires too. think im gunna get the motorsport gopro kit for all the extra mounts £125 and free delivery next day, with 2gb card. you any photos of how yours is mounted to the bike on the side ?


Edit them batteries your using are 2900mAh

The rechargeable ones are only half the capacity....Will have a hunt around see if i can find anything better

I didn't have much joy with them but it was in the winter and apparently NiCad don't work so well in the cold.

I'll have to give them another go. It be great if they did work well as I have a USB charger for them so I could look at hooking it up to the bikes power somehow?

Is that a tether you got to your camera in the last picture?


It would be possible to hook up to the bikes power anyway, by connecting direct into where the batteries connections are, and powering off a filtered universal cig lighter adapter or similar hooked straight to the bikes batery, and set at 3v, but it would mean opening the case of the camera to mod it and breaking the seal on the waterproof case to run wires outside the housing. Anything is possible, But would imagine it to be all surface mount technology inside it. but that aint a prob for me, im used to that. just gunna get one ordered and will have a think bout it. ya might be able to do it via one of the dummy battery packs,readily availlable in maplins etc. Will see what turns up, but looking very promising. if ya wanted to run an external source, theres no reason why ya couldnt run 4 batteries in an external pack for double the capacity and charge em out of the holder 3v but twice the size in theory

was it nicad or NiMH coz nicad when flat drop off instantly anyway. and its nickel metal hydride batteries that it recommends.you can get quite high capacity in those too

battery life, duracell aaa will last for a 2gb card, but you can only upload a 100mb file to youtube iirc so you will end up editing highlights of your vids down to 10 mins or so.

it does say dont use alkaline batteries but i can't say ive had a problem with them.
only thing with the micro usb port is it is inside the waterproof case so i can't see how you would be able to charge on the go without drilling a hole into the case


you're right about the extra cost of the mounts... you might also want to get a suction cup mount, but if you do, make sure its a global one that can swivel right round so you can get the camera facing where you want it as some you can only move the camera up and down.
there's also a tube bracket mount with 2 different diameter fittings (adjustable clamps) that would be ideal for fork mounting.

mine has the wide angle lens, but i'm not so fussed on the fish eye view and the way it makes trees and buildings look bent, but there are different lenses available.
wouldn't mind one with a narrower field of view for fast riding...

has to be the most versatile and reliable cam out there, and i also like the fact that it can record the engine sound without all the wind rushing noise.
you will be surprised when you see the size of it, and the build quality.

geodude's pics show how easy it is to mount - those pads do not fall off, and the camera base clicks in with a reassuring positive click, but there is a lanyard attached anyway just in case!
expensive, but worth every penny imo.

Thought with that, i can stick a mount on the screen on the front, one on the side facing forwards one on the seat cowl facing rear, maybe one on the unertray bit on the side facing forwards and one on the helmet (which is summat i always wanted to try but didnt fancy been strangled by all the cables ) So got all the mounts i could ever want. my mate can try it when he goes diving wrecks at weekends too, bonus
