Ive had a big off :(:(

Post by marlbororman »

Went out at 10 this morning for a steady ride, never broke any speed limits at all, nice and steady bimble to fimber, then onto goathland for a picnic, then across to scarborough for a coffee, then back across staxton hill towards hull direction again. I turned left at a set of lights, opened it up in first gear, and the throttle stuck open, I knew i was in trouble, and just managed to bail off back of the bike, slid bout 10 to 15 ft on my butt, while watching bike dissapear down the road revving, until it flipped, went on its side, (still revving), till it came to a stop and cut out :(:(

Im baddly bruised butt and aching, but least i got up and walked away without serious injuries.

Dunno as yet wot caused it, but whatever it was its sorted itself out. so when damage repaired, first job is gunna be to change out all things associated with the throttle .

List of damage is:-

Bent front forks (needed if anyone has any)
Smashed n/s front fairing (I might have spare that will go on)
Tail plastics (I defo have spares)
Smashed clutch lever (needed)
Smashed gear change lever (needed)
Smashed n/s Footpeg (needed)
N/s clip on is bit bent, but not stripped yet, might just be the grip, but have my original grips here that could go on.

AND BEFORE ANYONE ASKS THE CAMERA WAS OFF (Most gutted bout that one)

A copper pulled up shortly after i`d crawled on all 4`s to the verge, never asked how i was, just got me in the back of the car and breatherlised me. When i registered 0.00000000000 He threw the plastic pipe at me and said "here you can have this"

Then started on about someone had reported me wheelying. (I then pointed out i was sat on the road watching it), Then he did pnc check, everything checked out, he never even looked at the bike, said "We will close the log At that" told me to get outa the car, and drove off 8O 8O 8O

The most arrogent copper i have ever seen :( :( This happened bout 430pm, got someone in a van to come pick the bike up, just got home now from me mates using public transport. (I had to pay as not had staff pass with me     )

Least im here at home and can reflect on wots happened, and not laid in a hospital bed, which i would of been if i`d not bailed out.

If anyone got any spares going, pm me lol. Im at work wed thur and fri (If i make it ) then 2 weeks hols, so should be able to get sorted still for operation storm hopefully ;)

Mate really sorry to hear that, but glad that apart from a few bruises you are ok. Just looked at the parts you need, if I could help I would, but don't have any of those items, sorry.

What a strange thing to happen though, glad that PC49 was so considerate, some are like that, others not so.

All day, sticking to spped limits and this happened :( Im ok, bike will fix, i wont . just having a  Got some good footage though, and even though batteries had gone flat in the camera (gutted), it remained attached to the bike without a tether :):) Thats a test and a half lol

Fcuk, I feel your pain mate. Im glad ur ok as a bike is easier to fix than the human body. Its a pisser when sh1t happens Iv heard a few stories this week about the police being shits to bikers. Must be a national campain or summit.
Saying that I got a nod from a bike cop today.

Hope u get things sorted dude.

Im gunna have plenty of time to sort it anyway, before operation storm thank gawd. ok it might not be 100% but it will be there :):) I will start stripping paint tomorrow on my spare panels lol. If i can still move that is :) :) I will persevere :) :D

Got plenty of paint left over so not a worry lol

Edit... Just checked footage and camera went off with flat batteries about 10 minutes before the off

That would of been a sight to see i bet

Wont be long and will be back on the road.

Bloody Hell! 8O That's a weird one. I thought the whole idea of two throttle cables was to stop this from happening. :eek2
At least you've got away with no broken bone and are able to tell the tail.
Good luck with the rebuild.

yer pete, no broken bones, not took tank off yet, but reaching inside fairing while parked up, im suspecting around the area where the carb balancing adjuster is. there is a bar that links the carbs. the very lightest pressure on this and it was snagging somewhere, wont know till i strip it, and last night just wanted a few  And to get home after been recovered.

Will keep yer updated. The bike was stood for best part of a year and a half though, so maybe summats gunked up,and i missed it while it was stripped, i dunno. Still here, you cant get rid of me that easy     :biggrin

Edit.... i did find quite a bit of play in the throttle cable though afterwoods too.

And i still never managed to get my knee sliders bedded in :D

So sorry to hear that ;-( At least ppl can rally around and help out. I don't have any of the things you need but you could of had them if I did. At least you are ok. Must be a week for it with Daves head on crash and your 'off' so hopefully nobody on here is next as they come in 3's. 8O

Glad you're ok tho, as not nice no matter what and I for one, would almost certainly make an official complaint against the PC who attended the scene, alomost insinuated you had either been drinking or riding like a tw@t but although you couldn't say that, you could complain about the way it was handled etc...His behaviour not of a helpful/friendly conduct etc :Argue 1: . I'd be asking for an apology. I would, but thats me..Out and out cow when I when the mood takes. You'll be back in the saddle in no time and make the Storm meet so just as well you have 2 weeks off!! Talk about timing!

Sorry to read about this, real shame after all the work on the paint job, but glad you are OK.

Must have been scary when it set off and realised that you hav no control to shut down the revs...having to decide to bailout feels like take ages as the world goes into slow motion.

I have a front master cyl if you need it
