Anyway, I have a weeping rear shock (standard since new I believe) and the bike is in for a major service next week due to dodgy engine clonking.
So, the question is, if the shock is buggered what suggestions are there for someone with sod all cash at the moment? Refurb? Replacement standard one off ebay? Other 'bloody good value' suggestions.
i'd say cheapest option is blag one off someone on here or ebay. possibly fit a different spring?

if it's leaking it will probably fail mot so it's worth doing, as well as the handling improvements
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
the standard one cant be serviced, so if its leaking its junk.
options left are
a) buy a non leaking standard one off e-bay
b) buy a better quality replacement, with hagon being the lowest cost I have seen, but generally you get what you pay for, so mine will be getting a nitron in the next few days.
As benny said, with the standard one it will be a big improvement if you gett a lower stiffness spring to suit your weight, but it is still an old shock with marginal damping, so you are putting good moeny after bad in my opinion.
if you are looking at middle ground, my WP shock is in sales and wanted with all details and will be out of the bike this weekend I hope, as Nitron promise they have built my new one.
I am only replacing the WP unit as I take pillions 50% of the time, and i want a remote preload adjuster.......end of self promotion advert
Have a look at the Hagon remote.
I have one, seems fine.
Only criticism is that there's no detents on the adjuster, so it's half a turn, one turn rather than clicks.
And I fitted the remote under my right leg, so I can adjust it without getting off the bike, seemed a good idea.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
