i like birds me.

Post by benny hedges »

got these little cuties nesting on my alarm box next to my bog window.
Image
they don't half make a din when they see their mam coming with food, and they've crapped all over the place.

was watching them this morning getting ready for a flight - flapping their little wings like mad in the nest, jumping up & down!
there was 3 of them but can only see 2 now - there's loads of cats around here waiting for them to crouton up.

dunno what make they are, never been much good with birds me

yes they are swallows - just been watching them having a fly around :)
one of the babies got in the bathroom the other day (need the window open when ive been in there lol)
quite naturey here - i live right next to a forest / reserve thing and there's foxes, hedgehogs, loads of different birds, bats etc... seen some mega massive dragonflies hovering over my pond as well, huge fkers lol, about 8" long! 8O
we got invaded by hundreds of frogs not long ago, breeding in my pond, shitloads of em, all rivetting at night it's like being in the bleedin jungle :biggrin

Me too but Housemartins are Pests. They swoop up the face of the walls and crap all over the place (caught one on the cheek the other day!) and they make a right din. Were between two nests and they had one under our eaves. But these things are protected so you can only get rid of the nest during the winter months when vacant. We prefer the yellow breasted blue tits that nest in (and pop more chicks out of) oor bird house.

Rivettin' frogs, you should count yourself lucky, we've got midwife frogs, they 'beep', I kid you not, it sounds like an electronic beep. First time I heard them I wondered if I'd left something on! Then when you get a few of the little buggers together they make a right din. All bloody night! I end up gathering them up in a box and ferrying them down the road a few miles and putting them in a field. I think they've made an apperance in the south of England someone said. I've got a pic somewhere, if I can load it on, but don't know how. We get a fair few swallows - they are called 'hirondelles', they fly in and out of my workshop crappin' over everything. Especially the honda,(do they know something?). There's also a black and yellow snake that can be found under things in the garden sometimes, I found my ct chewing on something one day, and it turned out to be this 'coeur de levre' i think it's called, it was about a metre long, and pretty thick, it's a good job it wasn't warm or tiddles would have been lunch!

I don't know why, I expected someone to shoot it! Red one too, makes a change from those furry grey rats. Don't see greys over here, they shoot everything.

Found this wee guy outside the front door last year. Popped him back in the nest, hope he survived OK.

always loved that tune since valerie singleton days - we used to do a metal version of that and the hamlet cigar tune with me old band the fornicators :Rock1: :Rock1:

at my old house we used to get loads of squiggles.
one time i was outside and i kept hearing a bang every few minutes....
it was a squirrel next door lifting the lid up on the bird's nut box and pinching the food inside.
it kept running back along the fence to the same place, eating it like the one in your vid, then going back for another!

i was in delamere forest once with a gf looking for somewhere for a crafty shag, when i noticed a bunch of red squirrels eating mushrooms - they were picking them and holding them like giant pizzas!
i picked one and tempted one up, grabbed it and the little fker sunk it's teeth in me finger and locked on!!! :eek2
aaaagh said i.
i managed to pry it loose and it pulled what looked like a piece of raw bacon out of my fingertip :?
little bastid. i sh1t meself, thought i'd got rabies or sumat
