400 miles with my mate using his dads old 406 D as his car was having trouble with the rear disk

So many traffic jams

used to think i was sore after doing many miles on the bike, but wombles me is my back sore after sitting in that seat for so long!

missed the freedom of the bike and the heads up view of the cagers in front

least i have my new blade wheel's now


Gotta figure out a way how to lift the front end of the bike to take the forks, wheels and clamps off now.... and then put the 954 items on

still waiting for Callipers and a top clamp mind...wombles knows how long its gona be stuck in customs, H M & revenue website say's between 30-45 days not good.


any one any idea on holding the bike up in the air to remove the front? used to have a box stand for the moto-x bikes but the storms a wee bit to heavy

just take the bellypan off if you have it on and use a trolly jack under the engine (slide a thin piece of wood between the jack and engine)

and its a myth that marked as gifts sh1t, reading through the HM Revenue website anything sent from a registered trader is not deemed to be a gift etc etc and anything over 36 GBP they will tax you for, marked gift or not. b8stard

was thinking about putting the back on a stand and trying to prop the front of the engine up with some kind of home made wooden tripod, but a jack sounds much better

seb yes ive used a 2 tonne trolly car jack a few times on different bikes (storm inc) padock stand on the back, just be gentle when lifting first time to make sure it lifts the bike straight, if the front ends gonna be off for a couple of days you can add extra support with an axle stand

im thinking what ill do is paddock stand on the rear, then cut two square pieces of chip board i have. screw them together... jack the wombles up under the engine.... places some bricks under .... jack some more then more bricks....might even put some screws on the top of the wood either side and then wedge wood against them to the top cylinder so its stopping it from leaning left or right

probably sounds fiddler... but i know what i mean

Hey Seb,For saftey sake when using a jack it's better to use blocks of wood rather than bricks,when i took my storm apart i also used a step alloy ladder astride the bike with a strong piece of timber between the rounds or steps,to make an 'A' frame over the bike, jacked the bike up and with a good line tied the frame (EITHER SIDE)to the 'A'frame...extra insurance if anything slipped and it didn't get in the way. hope this helps

if its just in the air for a quick job i put the rear stand under the sa and trolley jack under the sump, against a hammer shaft between the fins on the sump, taking care to avoid the oil filter and front header.
if its up for longer, or any swinging on spanners, i use an upside down concrete planter under the sump, again supported with wood to protect the sump.

the stepladder plan works great - with ratchet straps either side - cant use a hoist as my garage has a plasterboard ceiling.
hadnt thought of the plank under the subframe though
