A while ago my garage was broken into and all my tools went missing. Most of it I've had for years, a lot of it was Snap-on stuff. Cartch 22 with the insurance. They want reciepts/bills for the stuff thats gone missing. Now who the hell keeps them for 20 odd years! So no reciepts, no pay out.
I'm looking at replacing most out of my own pocket, been looking around and nowdays my pokcets ain't deep enough for the likes of Snap-on or Mac stuff. Halfrauds seem a bit overpriced for their "Pro" stuff. Machine Mart do a "Pro" range thats has a lifetime warranty for not bad money. Looks to be decent quality, for what I'll use them for. Anyone had any experience with them? Or should I just bite the bullet, re mortgage the house and go see Mr Snap-on or Mr Mac! Any Ideas??

Re: Tools
the stuff in machine mart is clarke pro m8 - i have some that i use at work and i treat my tools like tools, not ornaments.
i have yet to break any of the stuff from there.
very good prices too - i was surprised at the range and quality and ended up spending a few ton in there lol, but claimed it back on exies ;)
got myself a superb bahco socket set from an ebay shop, an australian 3/4 drive set & windy gun etc and the rest of my kit is teng...
i have a deal with the local distributor who also makes hydraulic pipes up for me & stuff...i pick sumat out the teng book & he hides it in the bill ;)
damn good stuff teng is, and all comes in nice boxes.
kennedy are also quality sh1t as well if you can find a dealer... theres a few other makes i have - i'll have to have a look lol.
i think my torque wrenches are kennedy and my extractors and pullers are silverline pro.
i used to be into snap off myself but i think the quality has gone down the pan over the years...
also attracts thieves like no other brand - the amount of gear ive had robbed off site over the years is shocking.
worst was all my test gear, incl full 16th ed test kit cost me nearly 2k to replace
got it all on my house insurance now, new for old, and a spare set of tools just in case i get robbed again so at least i can work.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
Re: Tools
Bit the bullet and went and spent stupid amounts of money in Machine Mart. The sales guy though it was Christmas, my Bank Manager thought it was the end of the world!
The tools ain't bad quality at all. At least now I can get round to doing the service etc on the Bikes and the motah.....
