Re: Is it worth it?

"No, no, no, no, no, NO. Not another wombles boring "this is how far I get on a tank" discussion. I'm nipping this in the bud right now. Second only to boring "this is how much I pay for insurance" threads."
Surely you'd have to pay more for insurance if they thought you were concentrating on counting cars?
Mind you, you could offer to pay on a count.....

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Is it worth it?
Tony... i think it started that way but has ended up in sports-moped heaven or hell ...?
Re: Is it worth it?
Yeah- I just saw page 2...
Whatever, here's my moped story then (apart from buying fully-comp insurance for my first one for £4 a year, chunter, chunter, another half of mild)
Long time ago I was hanging out on Sundays at the local RAC/ACU training scheme, and in comes a kid on his brand-new FS1e.
He starts cleaning it, and we watch through the window as he carefully Autosolv's his disc brake.......
After we tell him that's not a good idea he also points out his other mod- a thick washer under the spark plug.
This, apparently, has the beneficial effect of leaving more room in the cylinder head for fuel, and it therefore must be faster......

Re: Is it worth it?
didnt they do one in a realy odd pale blue as well???
i'm sure i remember one of the lads had one...
btw @mike.... if your 19L storm got you 150 miles, do you not think if you were a bit lighter on the throttle and a few stone lighter you could squeeze another 50 mile out of it?
it was a personal challenge for me to get 200miles out of mine after topping 180 miles a few times...
a bit worrying like when you know you're on fumes... i keep meaning to ride it as frugally as possible for a whole tankfull, take a gallon on the back seat & see how far it'll go before running out!
also at the time as well, i was on 45 pilots and it was running very weak to 2.5k with the bmc in... spose that made a difference as well.
it's on 50 pilots now and 190/195 mains so cant see it being as economical as it was lol!

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Hang on a second - if you use the M6 toll road, doesn't that cut the mileage down?ChrisC wrote:Sorry Timbo, Got to take issue with you over the return distance to the moon,I clocked it on my Triumph Cub (in the sixties before Neil & Buzz arrived) and the speedo was pretty accurate,

Re: Is it worth it?
Tim - True, I now have a passionate dislike for Fizzys and all the $hite that surrounds them....
Clarkey... When you get your wish to tarmac everything south of Cheshire, you'll save on the fiver toll...
The 5 speed model SS50 came in two variants from what I remember - one with the cable operated built by the Hasbro 'I cant believe its not butter' disk brake company and the rarer one with a drum brake. 4 speeds were all drum brakes and both were very ssssllllllooooowwww....
