what a bunch of posh kids you lot were with your Puch / SS / AP / FS1E peds...................I had to make do with a Simpson MZ S50B, cause it was Â£100 cheeper..................it had 3 speeds, drum brakes and looked like all MZ's [ie eastern block function 1st, 2nd, 3rd, cost reduction 4th.............syle..about 1023rd!], but it was easy to de-restrict and fitted with ace bars and 1/2 knobbly tyres it worked for every situation AND it had enough tank range to get to Mars ..........[bars]

LOL First bigger bike I had was an MZ TS125 which was a 1979 model and cost me Â£110....so dont you call me posh!!!

Followed by an MZ 250 with a sidecar

Theres one local thats been imported from the states (not the one on E-bay). It is a runner, hardly any rot and I reckon it'll come for Â£500. Deal or no deal?

Quite like the idea of a cafe racer....

i had one for a while, a cb550K is it???? cost me Â£80

was very disappointed with its performance lol

Bloody thing has been sold - heyho. Probably best not to have a bike project - it'll get in the way of my golf...

MZ's stick with you, you cant just have 1.............I went on to race a heavly modified 250 in the MZ 1 make race series. Any eagle eyed people will see one of them in the workshop 360 section in PB this month, although it looks like they have opened the rules up a bit from when i was racing 20 yrs ago. I still think I would like to run that spec of bike on the road just to wind people up

Not sure it would make it to the moon with those mods, but is would be good fun on the back roads to the upper atmosphere

AMcQ - MZ racing... fantastic... I have to say I am tempted to get one, even went on the MZ forum for a snoop

My first job was as a trainee motorbike mechanic right in the middle of Wales. The dealer specialised in MZ, Gilera and Benelli bikes... I always remember we had one of the MZ 250 trail bikes in there, it was an awesome beast. I also remember falling off my TS125 into a ditch on the way to the Rhayader mountain road... It looked no different coming out as it did going in!! Quick story for you... We were selling Benelli 254s and the like and I always remember the owner trying to persuade all the locals that Benelli was a Welsh brand... Used to have me in stitches!

That's exactly what I was thinking AMcQ

I'll probably regret posting this, but here goes anyway

I had to make do with a Honda PC50 like this one although mine was light blue, and this didn't even have gears like your Simpson did. Not much more than a push bike with an engine I know, but a huge improvement on a push bike and it was mine all bought and paid for

What i didnt say was what my first bike was... It was a 1975 model, purple, it had pedals and called a Puch Maxi.....
Try that on the Welsh hills around Lampeter.....

Garelli Bimatic was my first. Please don't confuse it with the Tiger Cross, nothing like that sexy. I bought it when I was about 15, in preperation for my 16th.
It was nicked two days before my birthday from the council garage in Islington. It was eventually recovered on the third floor of the Packington estate. Poor little FAR86K wasn't fit for much after that.
Anyway the good to come out of it was a 1976(new) Yamaha FS1-E in Baja brown from Coburn & Hughes, Green Lanes, N4. LHX828P. And it doesn't matter what anyone says, the bike you had was the quickest
