Project

Post by bobtheimp »

Righty ho ... with the 'storm that's arriving on Tuesday is included a Spondon modified frame and a Spondon swingarm ... the plan for that is to build a project (funnily enough).
I'm no stranger to wielding a spanner, so i'm not worried about getting down and dirty with it all ... but was wondering, given the history with CCT's and the 'Storm ... has anyone fitted a TL1000 engine to a Firestorm frame?

My plan for this project is ...

Spondon modified frame & Spondon swingarm powdercoated satin black;
TL or breathed on VTR engine - want to get to about 130bhp;
High level cabon 'zorsts;
GSXR, TL or 'Blade frontend;
Standard bodywork done in this colour :Image

Something like that anyway ..
Won't be getting started until I finish the 3 9R based 'fighters and 1 normal 9R that I've been tasked with, but hopefully that'll be end of summer.. :)

busy busy then eh!

not sure about the tl engine... it would be a great mod if it's feasible.
i'd imagine all it would take is a bit of ally welding to sort the mounts.... depends on how the s/a is mounted on the sponny frame as the std storm uses the engine rear mount for the s/a

with a tl motor i'd imagine you'd have a lot more tuning options...
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

The sa is mounted to the frame on the Spondon, not the engine, so I'd think it'd be feasible too :)

130 bhp?
Moriwaki full build will get you a Storm engine close to that, but why not just use an SP1 or 2 engine?
It'll probably cost you as much to get a Storm motor to that output, maybe a bit less for a TL lump.

Using a Spondon frame would certainly get you round the Storm problem of the s/a mounts cracking over 130, and you're aiming a bit close for comfort, really.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Hmmm .. hadn't thought about the SP1/2 engines ... are they roughly similar to the VTR then ..? Could be easier to mount I guess - does the SP use side mounted rads too ?

Right then ... well, due to work f'kin' up my pay, the chassis has to go - I did post up about it, but it got removed - I've since realised it's 'cos have less than 10 posts - sorry about that ...
Never mind, I'll pop it on eBay, just thought someone on this forum would like the opportunity before the great unwashed! ..

Go to the Test area and make some post.

The frame and swing arm is prime, and I would be tempted but can not afford the time to move all the stuff accross... I've only 120BPH anyway so not really worth it.

Good luck with it...
No bike (yet).
