what have you done to your "bike" today

Popped over to Alec gaff & fiddled with me TPS (oh er Mrs!) was 850-ish now 504, has made a noticeable difference to throttle response.

Also on last few rides I had developed a strange & very annoying noise, the only way to describe it is the classic ''playing card in the spokes'' noise, however this was only noticeable at speed. With or with out ear plugs I can hear this noise as I build up speed. I've looked all around the bike, nothings loose.

Riding over to Alecs today I found the source. Over the last week I've been in & out of the garage quite a bit & at some stage I had folded the mirrors in, so today on leaving home, on the first straight bit of road I had a good rearrange & set of mirror stems & heads. Happy with the rear view I press on, speed builds up, annoying noise starts.

My new-ish ( remember last few rides this annoying noise) very light vented & armoured with removable thermal & waterproof lining fabric summer jacket (Richa £80 from J&S Accessories in Eltham) flapping in the wind......Playing card in the spokes.......DOH! I have now adjusted the straps on the arms & I am pleased to say it has reduced the flapping somewhat!

in reality it wasn't the jacket flapping in the wind but now you shut your visor properly your chins aint smacking together.

just got the wheels off mine for a clean, regrease & fit new (to me) power 1's

i'll test them out shortly as long as the roads stay dry...
getting binned from work tomorrow so looks like i will have one shiny bike lol

sorry to hear about the job Benny, received the tyre today mate many thanks all fitted on the rim just got to refit the wheel to the bike .

m8 its gone on for over 6mth now, classic constructive dismissal cos of personal differences, theyve been looking for every excuse and construed some ridiculous allegations..... the way it's been lately ive just had enough of it so today i just said crouton it, get on with it. dont want the job anymore/
got a few irons in the fire, one with their main competitor who will no doubt be picking up some new contracts lol....

nice one on the tryre mate, told you it was a good un :d should be good for 3k easy

the rear on mine was ok til i rode on it flat at weekend and you should see the damage it's done.... its all cracked across the width all the way round and really badly blued.... had a new set ready to go on & they should be ready to pick up anytime
not got a front stand tho so it was a pig getting the front wheel off with the back in the air lol!!!

the ones going on are a set of practice scrubs but look like theyve only done half a lap - still got chicken hairs on

well 3k is abot 2 years to me lol, but i'll be using it to and fro work if i get the job this afternoon so will soon rack up a few miles lol. thanks again benny its a big one i owe ya mate .

fitted new tyre coutesy of Benny, many thanks m8, also checked and greased the rear wheel bearing, looks like the previous owner had the bearings and cush drive changed at some point recently so thats a bonus,

first impressions are , it starts first tap of the button (it didnt do that before)
and it idles smother and pulls cleaner im happy as i got them for £20 of ebay for 4 with loom




for any one else doing this you need to solder the bright green to the black/white wire(common colour)on both front and rear ,
and the other to the other one job done
i used the plug of the standard coils to make the little looms

That's very good Lloydie, & looking at the state of your oil cooler & front head makes me feel much better as I thought mine were in a state!

By the way Alec less comments about my chins thank you very much, it's taken years of hard training to get them this ''flappy'' on a very strict regime of Mars bars & doughnuts.

Mine too - project this winter will be stripping it all down and refurbing, repainting and refreshing the various bits of the engine looking very sad

very slight weight loss (0.8 lb) and hotter spark (fires up better, better throttle reponse). Also, if your original coils (or high-tension leads) were getting tired, a bit more power (one member on the Superhawk forum gained 2 hp from this mod alone, verified on his own dyno)....

why did i do it well my coils were badly corroded and i was board
i hope to be putting it back on the dyno in July , so i can see if it has helped on paper , it dose ride a little better
but that my be down to the standard coils not being in the best shape
