Slight hesitation around 3-4K revs

Post by mpgscott »

Folks,

Sorry another question. I have had a search and cant really find anything to pinpoint my problem.

When in traffic around the 40mph mark in 3rd gear and revs around the 3-4K mark i am getting the odd hesitation and a sort of splutter. The bike is running a stage 3 dynojet kit as well as K+N and pipe werx cans. Could this be an issue due to what the bikes running, would a trip to the dyno maybe cure this. Other than this the bike is running nicely (to my knowledge) and pulls fine through the rev range, really starting to like this new wheels..

Thanks for any thoughts.

That's normal with the firestorm they all do it they call it the air box cough
Just keep it above 4k or turn up the tic over to 1200rpm will help

Can't ride but it don't stop me trying

try runnning a set of 48 or 50 pilot jets mate.... i assume this is when you have the slightest throttle opening...
part numbers are here if you search pilot jets
easy to fit.

Sorry and all that, but they don't all do it. Mine never has, though very occasionally I might get a pop back through the air filter but not generally. As for hesitation at 3-4,000, no, it needs setting up properly, though once you change standard bits/filters/jets/zorsts etc then it is a matter of trial and error and IMHO I can't see the point, but that's just me. If I wanted more performance I'd get an SP2 or a Gixxer Thou or similar.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Why are you running a stage 3 kit? Thats supposed to be for heavily modded engines. Stage 1 is the one for road riding.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!

if its got a stage 3 kit it will already have bigger pilots, different needles, mains and springs.
i had major problems with mine when running the shorter springs as they were causing the slides to lift way too early meaning the mixture was too rich low down as it came on the mains when it shouldve been progressing up the needles.

you're really just guessing the settings by doing it yourself mate, best bet is get it to a decent dyno place and get it set up properly.
stage3 tbh, i'd imagine it would only give proper gains with high compression pistons, ported heads, decent cams, filter & exhaust...
it'd be interesting to see whats been done to the bike and what numbers it makes
