Fuel Issue

Post by mpgscott »

Folks, this morning i had a lot of spluttering as if it was running really low on fuel, i had covered 115 miles since last fill up and when i did fuel up the tank would only take 14.5 ltrs. I filled to the bar you can see in the tank which i assume is a strengthening bar for the tank but do most fill above this level? Just thinking if its a 16ltr tank and i only manage to get 14.5ltrs in then i wouldn't have expected it to run as it was on 1.5ltrs of fuel. She seems fine after the refill so am i not putting enough in the tank can you fill above this bar??

Sorry if this is a daft one but best to ask..

Brim it. If you over fill, it runs out down the pipes past your lower fairing.

You are getting very good mileage though.
No bike (yet).

i always brim mine to the lip.
the bar is a baffle - dunno what purpose it serves but thats what it's there for!
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

How long had the light been on? I find I can brim mine with 13 or so litres after the light comes on. (anything from 80miles round twisties, to 110miles down a motorway)

Where abouts in Aberdeen are you?

Hi Richy,

Im actually out in Oldmeldrum but just about to move to a flat in Dyce through the week.

Light came on at around 94 miles and i filled her up at 115 bike felt very spluttery like she was running on fumes, but i only managed to get 14.5ltrs in the tank upto that frame line that i was talking about. Seeing on here that 14.5 is about the size of the tank and not the claimed 16ltrs, whats the thoughts.

Need to meet up for a blast sometime eh??

Cheers

Scott,

I'm near Westhill, work in Dyce (west side of the runway ;)). No probs with meeting up for a ride, my shifts are odd though!

My 110 to the tank on the m'way was going very steady, riding in a group. No playing with the traffic or making good progress.
