New toy coming

Post by AMCQ46 »

you will probablay see in the background of the pictures of my bike in the pimp section, that I run a BMW mini cooper [1st generation].........most fun car I have owned , and stacks up well against some special cars I have tested as part of my job designing steering.........well it is showing its age now, so I have been looking at what I would replace it with, and have been round in a big circle and come back to a MINI!!!!..........but this time the new cooperS

So tomorrow morning I will collect the new car [09 plate, but new for me] a mini cooper S convertable :D............blame the wife & kids for the convertable part of the spec.............getting a bit excited....

serious power and torque figures for a 1.6 engine with the new turbo
Output: 184 hp (135kw) @ 5,500 rpm
Acceleration (0-62 mph): 7.3 s
Top speed: 140 mph
Max. torque/revs: 240 Nm @ 1,600-5,000 rpm

Biggest worry is that it will be a bit of a threat to the trips out on the Storm, as I now have a car which makes you just go out and waste petrol just for the sake of driving, so I will have to rely an you lot to remind me to get out on the bike

That's a good performance in a little convertible - will feel much faster I reckon. I just like driving my Jag around too (not very often its fair to say) just for the pleasure of driving it. Tad thirsty though
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Hows the new car going AMcQ :?: it sounds a cracker.
I agree with Stratman, some impressive figures there for a 1.6 ltr, I expect the turbo has something to do with that

My first car was a bright yellow mini
Could never get over how fast you could take bends just like a go-cart
Pluss you could see the road under your feet as I'm sure they made it out of card board lol

Yeah, I've seen drivers going about with the roof down and wearing shades when there's no sun out

It seems you're enjoying your new toy anyway so that's good  you best send your bike to me for the rest of this summer as I can't see you'll be using it now

A mate has a new MG it always has the roof down unless it is actually raining, With his last convertible he had the roof down all winter if dry, just turned the heater up!

Mind you he is a wannabe biker

Still having fun.........on the M5 last night at 7pm with hood down and music up....:D
..very good way to wake up after a long day on my trials bike round the Long Mynd in Shropshire [7 hrs on a bike with no seat and not enough off road bike fitness, so I was knackered!] the compromise when the roof is up [less visibility, more noise, dark interior, body flexing compared to the hard top] is more than paid back when the roof is down...................forgot to say it has heated seats as well, so that helps when the roof is down in the winter :D
