IMPORTANT!! Barmy EU plans to ban bikes over 7 yrs old
Re: IMPORTANT!! Barmy EU plans to ban bikes over 7 yrs old
At the very least sign the petition in the 1st post and join a 20 min ride at 1pm on 25th sept from a motorway service station near to you.

How hard is that?
So midlands riders, we have the choice of M42 Hopwood Services or M40 Warwick services northbound

I'll be at Hopwood if I'm not working that weekend, it's only down the road.AMCQ46 wrote:

Will probably do A303 amesbury, or M4 Reading. Anyone else doing these?

No I can't spell.

reminder 25th Sept 1pm. find the service station near you and ride for 20 mins
OK so a bit of a bugger if you are at Silverstone BSB, but other than that you have no excuse

I'm at BSB with Bazza then, so that's our excuses sorted.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I will be at Woolley Edge Southbound at 12:30 if any Yorkshire folk want to meet up.
I have also got in touch with my training school to see if I can generate more attendance from there. Also called a couple of chaps I know, one of whom just finished a streetfighter!
Not a single one of them was aware of this protest. I think more advertising is needed to have a big impact. Still, we do what we can.
Could the forum admin make a front page banner for this perhaps? These proposals affect almost everyone who visits this site.

I will see you there, Hopwood is closer, but I can have a better run out if I do Warwick

Re: IMPORTANT!! Barmy EU plans to ban bikes over 7 yrs old
I may join VTRyorks at Wooley Edge just for a ride out (weather permitting) but I don't think there's much to be worried about IMHO it'll never happen, they tried a similar thing in the mid 90s, trying to impose a 100bhp limit on all bikes IIRC some EMP joker called burgman / bergerman or something similar was behind it, it came to nothing. That said it doesn't do any harm to show the powers that be they won't get an easy ride trying to pass such an ill-conceived and senseless piece of legislation, these idiot politicians don’t live in the real world, if they carry on the way they are nobody will be able to afford to buy a bike under 7 yrs
I've now gone all European and bought a KTM Superduke GT and Aprilia RSV1000R

Of course, you wouldn't buy a bike five years old or older, either, as it would be worthless after a short while.
Actually, it would kill the secondhand bike market stone dead.

Look this idea is so crazy even the dumb ass politicos in Brussels won’t go for it, it’s so unworkable on so many levels it’s not even funny, I’d say the worst that could happen is another illconcieved ‘scrapage’ scheme that blighted the car market a couple of years ago, I’d say forget about it and enjoy a ride out on the 25thtony.mon wrote:Of course, you wouldn't buy a bike five years old or older, either, as it would be worthless after a short while.
