welcome to the club. as the others have said, there is a period of readjustment required to go from a revvy 600 IL4 to the torque monster V2 1000.
that said, there is a trait for the clutch to grab badly if you slip it with too much revs. some are very bad and unintended wheelies will be the result, but the trick is to get the clutch full engaged before opening the throttle too far in 1st, and the go for it from there.
Brakes.....In my opinion they always dissapointed no mater if cleaned and rebuilt, new pads, new ss hoses etc. so I changed teh calipers and master cyl to those off a cbr600F4, and that is much better........more pad area and more leverage ratio

but make sure you have the front forks sorted with stiffer springs and thicker oil before uprating the brakes.
