Clutch is a bit snatchy (probably just not used to it), and the brakes don't inspire much confidence.

Tidy looking bike you have there. Shame its yellow. 
Coming off a Gixxer you will notice the clutch being a bit snatchy. I did. I then realised its because with the GSXR you get used to revving the buggery out of the bike to get to its potential. With the VTR you do that and you looking at the bike heading down the road from the vantage point of the ground behind where you started. The bikes lifted, you've fallen off the back in surprise and the bikes vanished!
Take it easy in the revs until you get used to it and then blast it when you shift into 2nd. Thats great fun.

If it hasn't got it already try Honda OEM pads and upgrade the hoses, change and bleed the fluid. The brakes will not be as good as the suzi;s as comparatively the disks are smaller diameter but you'll adjust your brain to surfing the engine's torque and copious engine braking (roll-on roll-off) and you'll be okay. I made the adjustment in riding styles coming from a revvy gpz600r a decade ago and haven''t looked back.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

welcome to the club. as the others have said, there is a period of readjustment required to go from a revvy 600 IL4 to the torque monster V2 1000.
that said, there is a trait for the clutch to grab badly if you slip it with too much revs. some are very bad and unintended wheelies will be the result, but the trick is to get the clutch full engaged before opening the throttle too far in 1st, and the go for it from there.
Brakes.....In my opinion they always dissapointed no mater if cleaned and rebuilt, new pads, new ss hoses etc. so I changed teh calipers and master cyl to those off a cbr600F4, and that is much better........more pad area and more leverage ratio
search in workshop section for more info.
but make sure you have the front forks sorted with stiffer springs and thicker oil before uprating the brakes.

Clutch - Yeah think I'm used to reving it too much and slipping the clutch when pulling away. Lunged forward a few times on the way home

Hi there & welcome. Enjoy the difference in ride. You will either hate it or embrace it. If its the latter you will never go back to the IL4. Just get the suspension sorted & get out onto the twisties & remember not to do too many downshifts one is usually fine 2 at most

Hi and welcome from another new yellow Storm owner. 
I have mine 2 months now and love it. Sounds great with Remus cans. You can easily spend the value of the bike on upgrades, suspension etc. I am just trying to restrain myself and enjoy it at the moment.
