You finding out about the storms weakneses in advance shouldn't put you off the basically an inherently reliable bike. It's a case of forewarned- is fore armed (or tooled up...) My Storm has done 55,000 mainly mainly without a hitch - the times it left me in the lurch and needing to call for recovery has been a front CCT implosion and an unfinned RR going kapput (+ leaky clutch slave)- With those two things now fixed all I have to worry about is the price of petrol, and let the storm eat the miles for many more years to come.

Use the knowledge you;ve picked up here to your advantage - If the bike you're going to look at hasn't had attention to the obvious problems, haggle the cost of fixing them off what they're asking.

Very well put Wicky. Nearly all bikes have some little niggles to deal with, the Storm only really has two (as already said) issues (the CCT's and the rectifier) and on the later models the rectifier isn't a problem, as they fitted cooling fins on the rectifiers for those bikes, that's the 19ltr fuel tank models. The amount of bike you get for your money when buying a Firestorm will take some beating, but as always I suggest you do get a test ride before buying one somehow if possible.

I have not got the bike yet and im putting doubts in my mind that im not buying someone elses problem

I'm afraid that applies to any 2nd hand purchase. To minimise that happening, if you're not that up on bikes, take someone with you who knows about what to look for when buying a 2nd hand bike. Buying from a dealer rather than a private seller does give you some come back if you find a problem after purchase.

Well It didnt look as good in the flesh as the pics but after 2hr's uming and aring ive bought it

It needs the following:
sprockets, chain cush drive rubbers
fork seals+ (tidy pitted forks)
seat cover
wheels touched up or stripped and re-sprayed
full service engine flush ect.... mabey valve check, carb balance.
R/R changed
Cct's checked

on further cleaning the engine is imaculate, no stone chips anywhere, to me the millage is definatly genuine just needs some TLC to bring it back to mint condition.
It was priced accordingly not a complete bargin but Im happy at the end of the day.

And sounds amazing!! you know its good when the ground shakes when you rev it !!!

re-spraying bits and bobs, you could tell this bike has been laid up cobwebs and spider nests all over even the EU protest ride didn't blow them out!
