tyre pressure

Post by hugh jarse »

hi folks newbie to site and need advice, i have 98 firestorm and have front tyre set at 36 psi and rear at 42 as stated in manual, back end is extremely skittish at those pressures
tyres are in good nick with plenty tread on them , and would like to know if anyone else had this problem and if they lowered pressures a little to see if this helped

i would be inclined to check the preload on the rear shock before changing tyre pressures to be honest, the standard rear shocks as standard seem to be a bit to oversprung.

I was advised by the tyre spot I use who also prepair race bikes to lower the preasures by 2psi as Honda has always set them high on all models.

I agree with MJONSEY, look at shock 1st, they are oversprung, and unless you live up to your screen name and have a massive butt, you need to have the preload on 1.

once you have that corrected you can experiment with pressures, but I dont go much below 3psi from stock...........I find the front end loses precision at 32psi with Michelin Pilot Road 2CT, so they are Honda settings back & front now.

bt023s  f35. r38/9 they squirm about any harder, the front naturaly pushes wide on the storm, it distroy's softer sports tyres.
