pics from Brands BTCC and now off to Silverstone

Post by budd »

:biggrin I know this a bike forum but I've just recieved some tickets for this weekends BTCC at Brands Hatch, getting free tickets is always good, but these are a little special, We're the guests of West Surrey Racing (ebay motors BMWs)with full pit access, grid access, WSR hospitality the works, the full VIP package, so prior to each race I'll be swaning around on the grid with the great and the good, I may even get on telly  we should get to meet all the drivers and wander around the pit garages too, I can't wait roll on Sunday

Yeah it’s pretty rough out there, I was told the drivers have been briefed to actively get ‘up close and personal’ on the track (probably not the Neal –Plato off track shenanigans though) in order to boast viewing figures, I know for sure that some of the ‘driving’ wouldn’t be tolerated in any other MSA sanctioned event, clubmen drivers get black flagged for almost any contact, whether it’s true they’ve been told to ‘get stuck in’ I don’t know , although I may ask Rob Collard or team boss Richard Bennetts see what they have to say about it. Either way the series is getting stronger and as you say returning to the BTCC of old so they’re doing something right.

Well we had a great time at Brandshatch BTCC, met lots of drivers and 'brolly' girls, here are a few pics

talking 'tech' with my new best friend Rob Collard, joking aside he was a genuinely nice guy and very knowledgeable and approachable too, taking time to explain some of the car setup details to me.

Oh and we gott to see some great racing too.

all in all a day to remember and a 'once in a lifetime ' opportunity, well not quite 'once in a lifetime’ because I heard this morning we are going to Silverstone this Sun for the final round , same type of deal full VIP access all areas tickets plus overnight accommodation, this time we’re guests of Holiday Inn who are series sponsors rather than team sponsors, so we have access to all the teams and best of a lap in the course car!!! Roll on Sunday I can’t wait.
