Best bike

Post by Miztaziggy »

I gave up on the new bike on finance idea when I realised I didnt want that sort of monthly debt for 3 years...started looking for a decent SP1 for the same sort of money Benny bought his for but they are few and far between in the same condition as his which is very disappointing.

Anyway glad I didnt take out the finance now, because I found out this week ill be getting a decent bonus in November. I should be able to afford something without any finance which is ideal. Ill sell my VTR for approx £1000-1500 I guess which should give me approx £7-7.5k to spend after the tax man robs his fat chunk

My first thought was a 2010 R1 with the funny engine thingy - but - im a little disappointed because it doesnt look like they are going for much under £8500 so I dont think ill be able to afford one. Then I thought about the BMW1000RR but they are even more expensive. Then I thought about the RC8 but it seems they are more expensive than I thought and dont think ill be able to afford one of those either

So...what is the best (sports) bike you can buy for approx £7k?

Nice bike but I want something fully faired. I like the minimal look of the new blade, RC8 and zx10 where they look 'small' and light if you know what I mean

Premier Bikes or something like that near Oxford have got RC8s for £8k, brand new, never used. They listed at £12k, so may be up for a deal. Saw them on ebay - white, orange and black.

in last months FastBikes they reviewed 2nd hand sports bikes under £6k and the Blade won hands down........Could scan it if you want

I would still chase after the RC8..........much more character than a blade

I'm not on commission honest, but this Premier Bikes lot also have a Repsol 09 Blade, 4.5k miles for just over £7k.

I would still go for the RC8 as well - sat on one, feels nice and not extreme, engine sounds the dogs. Dreaming :D

Hmm...been reading reviews of the RC8 and I cant decide if they have put me off it or not. Has anyone test ridden one? What is the power like?

That Repsol blade on their site looks nice too, but looks expensive when you can get an RC8 with less than 1000 miles for similar money.

Edit...yep definitely now put off the RC8 after reading reviews of the RC8R and how much of an 'improvement' it is over the older RC8. From MCN "KTM have listened to the criticism of poor fuelling and harsh throttle response and come up with a heavily revised package for 2011."

So...maybe a blade now or what is the chance that come Jan/Feb/Mar 2012 the funny engine thingy R1 is less than £7.5k?

Will scan it at work tomorrow, and I think it also has a rc8 2nd hand review, so will scan both articles.

Pm me an e-mail address so I can send the pdf to you.

The attractive thing about the KTM is the adjustability of the pegs, bars etc.

I haven't ridden one though but to be honest this is sports bike, as they all are. Most are not for the road.

The newer blades are small. I've just sold my 2001 blade and it's too small.

I'm tempted by a KTM SMT but want an another firestorm when I'm ready.

They really are amazing bikes. Why not spend 1500 on yours for a stage 1 tune. Get 125 bhp with all that comfort and usability and spend the rest on drink, drugs and women. Why waste it?;)
No bike (yet).

Hmm...interesting suggestion, but personally I dont see it as a waste. It's money I hadnt planned on having, money I dont need to spend on anything essential and it's money invested in something that in a years time ill be able to sell and get the majority of it back :) (as long as I dont bin it) :shifty:

As for spending more money on mine, it will never be worth any more money no matter what I spend, so that I do see as a bit of a waste.

Thanks AMCQ will pm e-mail.

Been looking at the RR-8 and RR-9.

Best one is the RR-9 as it is the newest model and comes with the ABS, but, why do none of the new blades have aftermarket exhausts? I dont think I could bring myself to buy a quiet one with those horrible little side exhausts.

With regards to the RC8, remember the storm got slated when it came out too. Go test ride one. Dealers will still have new old stock. There was something in one of the mags where dealers were selling them new for 8.5k to get rid before the R comes in. Don't be put off by reviews, go find out for yourself.

I got to spend a couple of weeks riding an RC8 when they first made it across The Pond (back when I worked for a bike rag) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The adjustable ergos made it comfortable, something you can`t say about too many supersports. Granted, I never rode one on a track but for street riding, it fits the bill IMO.
