hi just bought a very cheap vtr1000 firestorm mechanicly sound but very tatty,i bought it to break for spares to sell on ,however having test riden the bike i have to say i love it , so have now made it my winter project as another streetfighter build thats 2 im building this winter..lol although the fzr1000 is almost there now.
so far ive removed all the damaged plastics on the vtr half fitted an r1 seat unit very easy on the firestorm subframe although im not sure i like the way it looks with the curvey firestorm tank so on the look out for a triumph daytona 600 2004 seat unit, tryed every which way to move the rads but could only find i could fit 1 rad up front with no fan and the other under the seat with fan how ever im not happy that i'll get enough air flow so have refitted them on the sides and will have some stainless covers made up, bit of a comprimise i think but rather not cook it up.
anyway i will add a project thred soon with pics etc and im sure i'l be needing to pick your brains about these beastys along the way

hello and welcome...you can never have enough winter project bike.......although that is not a view my wife shares

regarding the radiators, a few people have fitted a single bigger rad on the front, but had to do some cutting & welding of the rad core to fit it in...I cant remember where I have seen the thread, could be here or could be on the USA superhawk forum.........you will have to do somne searching.

if you do stay with the side mounted rads, you need to be aware that with the faring off, the air flow through them drops dramaticaly as the faring is shaped to provide a low pressure area on the outside of the rad [like an aeroplane wing] to pull air through. take that away and you have to put more fans on to make sure there is a flow of cooling air being forced through the core.

Go for it!

Ask on here for any parts you need, such as extra fans.
You have about an inch clearance inside each rad, when mounted in the side positions, and could fit a slim fan inside both to improve airflow to a sufficient level.

An alternative is fitting a curved rad, some of the Aprilia ones look as if they might be worth a look.

hmmm i think i may have an aprillia milli r rad still. with out wanting to advertise i break bikes for a living still very small but getting bigger all the time so all my fighters are scrapfighters because i build them from scrapped bikes just keep the good bits for myself...lol

hi bit embarrised to show you this as it is at the moment but hey its early stages of a small build , didnt really want to use the r1 back end as everybody does that but i had 1 laying around so it was that or the zx6r g2 rear end the r1 rear end was the easier to fit so it won

i like the seat unit fella and i love remus cans, what colour are you going to paint it, and if you break bikes you wouldn't happen to have a pair of good firestorm wing mirrors for sale?

havnt decided on the colour yet but i think im liking the r1 blue with white wheels?????
as for firestorm parts the only parts i have for firestorm is what im taking off this one the mirrors are good no cracks but there are some scratches on the outer casings £15 delivered to uk?
