Spotify

Post by Opel »

Is anyone familiar with Spotify? I’ve been using it for what seems like years now, but that’s obviously not the case because it hasn’t been around all that long.

Anyway, they changed the access limits for those with free accounts earlier on in the year. Basically a ten hour monthly limit was introduced amongst other things. To allow the user to monitor this, a simple gauge appeared in the top right hand corner of the application GUI. Well that has now vanished… does anyone know if the limits are still in force? I can’t seem to find any mention on their own website… but there again, they’d probably not shout it out anyway. Perhaps they’re coming towards the end… Will be sad if they do go.

I am a low level user of Spotify for a good few yrs, as I use it to find old songs or try out a new band, but I then buy the MP3 file from MP3PANDA so I have the songs to use in my Ipod and can play them any place and any time.

My youngest uses my log in as well, and she is a big user so I will ask her if she has seen any changes

They have scrapped the monthly usage limit. They still have a maximum listen count per song of 10times though.

Premium is worth £5 a month imo.

They may not have quite the number of tracks but grooveshark seems quite good. Free and no limits...........

Thanks for that guys, mystery solved. It seems strange that they've removed the 'time limit' but I'm not going to complain. :D I'm going to try Groove Shark also, but I'm after mainly 70s rock ie. Alex Harvey and Stone the Crows etc. 8O and Spotify does that well... 8)
