fuel starvation

Post by muppet »

took my vtr dragbike for a test session at the strip on sat ran 11.0 but speed was down to 114 mph from 124 mph i had run previously, i was running without a air filter with 200 mains but had hesitation and feeling of the bike holding back at full throttle so rolled the throttle off and it pick up, so i thought too lean so replaced the air filter and rejeted to 190 so back to my settings when i ran with 124 terminals but the problem was the same  now thinking back the only other thing i did was put 2 inline petrol filters in the fuel pipes, are these bikes at the limit on fuel flow as standard ? if so im hoping this was the problem, so maybe a pump needed ?

You can fit a fuel pump really easily, but if you're going 2nd hand I'd suggest using a car one, they're available from breakers for pennies.
But the pipework from a VFR fits nicely, so I'm led to believe.

Try it; if you've put the air filter back to where you were and that's the only change you've made, there's your culprit.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Pre1999 cbr600 pump works well. But also others work too.
No bike (yet).
