Interesting stuff.
I have one of the cheaper Arai helmets (if that doesn’t sound a contradiction). It fits like a glove and is very comfortable, but the noise! Incidentally, I ride around with it open at varying degrees because I find it's less noisy than when it’s completely closed… work that out.
The comfort out ways any problems with the noise (although I don't consider noise to be an issue) and I would definitely go for another Arai when the time comes to change.

watching WSB and Burnicle and Whitham were talking about noise and Whitham said that it's the low level stuff wind noise coming up through the base that's the problem

Go to a workclothes store they sell Moldex for 10p a pair
You can also google them and buy online
