Hey ppl
i just bought a vtr firestorm and love it. but after a day of riding in the heat bike gets a bit hot although fan are running non stop. By the end of the day my battery will be flat and the battery is about 2 months old. If i leave it till the next day i jump start it and take it for a little drive the battery will be fine again. Is the bike not charging enough? but why does it charge up when i take not to long rides?
thanks

Re: heating or charging problem
get on ebay and find a finned regulator / rectifier off a cbr125.
plug & play.
its the swan vesta box sized component o the right hand side, halfway down the seat plastics.
the original ones have a habit of failing - not just on the firestorm, all the old unfinned honda r/r's off all the models are shite.
some replace them with yamaha rr but these can fail too and it also involves chopping some wires. which imo is why the cbr unit is the best option.
ive got one off a later cb1100 blackbird & it hasnt let me down.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Re: heating or charging problem
Two things to help keep engine temp down:
Firstly fit the four-row oil cooler from an SP1, or any of half a dozen other bikes. That'll help keep oil temp down, as long as you're going along.
Secondly , try fitting a small, slimline fan behind the LH side rad. Switch it with a manual switch, with an idiot light so you can see it's running.
Has, by any chance, the PO fitted indicators in the air scoops?
It's not uncommon, but truly buggers the airflow in the rads.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
