CCT'S? ?????!!!

i have quick questions, are they original honda ccts really that bad? surely if they were really bad, there would be a major recall or something for them?

also what kind of a sound should i be looking for, to see if my ccts are on their way out?

Honda OEM CCTs are like looking up at Clint Eastwood's barrel pointing down at you... "Do you feel lucky?" Honda recalling them would seem logical but they have never acknowledged it as a problem probably as they generally went/go out of warranty period and have cost Honda a fortune to rectify and left them to come up with a reliable serviceable solution in quick time. (VFRs went to an expensive techo wonder race derived cam drive solution after the problems on early VFs as a means to dispel any reputation for unreliability - funnily enough they quietly reverted back to 'normal' CCTs on late models). Not sure of the the history of the simple aftermarket manual bolt solution but it seems to have escaped Honda for some reason, when it worked quite happily as standard on my early ickle CB125T.

If you are lucky you get a top end rattle warning of impending doom, but from personal experience my front CCT imploded without warning at a steady 30mph (@ 35,000 mile), necessitating roadside recovery, a new 2nd hand head transplanted on. Having manuals fitted remove that worry, grief and £££ for a relatively small outlay.
