How long did you wait before joining?

Post by Flatline »

Bought the bike new in 1998

Joined forum July 2009

Never considered forums before

Even after joining I don't think I posted much until this year

Suprised at how enjoyable the forum is to read

I can see why forums are so popular

What about you?

Joined in september last year. I haven't got myself a bike yet due to my financial status, but it looks as if thats going to change this spring.
I'm also a member of the swedish and american forums and I'm suckimg up all info anout these beautiful bikes as I can since I'm building "my" own VTR in my head. This way I'll know exactly what I want and can customize my ride (when I get one) and have it road ready in a hurry.

Don't know if my english is right but I hope you get it 8)

Flatline , You win, I got bike in 2001 and joined the forum in 2009, I had found the site much earlier and stolen the information I needed but never bothered to join in and say thanks.

Always thought forums became clieky, and full of keyboard warriors, so hence I felt justified in my selfish behavior, but this form is very different, very helpfull, very open, very funny and rarely a harsh word typed..so now I have joined it is like a 2nd family.

I still have to say they the other forums I have joined ( for my other bikes) still don't match up to this one, and they do portray the stereotypical behaviours that keep me away from being an active member before, so I post very rarely on those and come here to remind myself of the good side of human nature.

No hanging around for me! :D

But I was used to forums having been on the SV forum for a few years, the CBR forum for a bit, the FJ forum for a short bit and BWA a modified bike forum.

I bought my first Firestorm in 1999 and joined the forum in 2010, quite a big gap there, I was never into forums, In most cases I thought it was just a place for saddos playing text tennis with useless self opinionated information :confused

But I must admit this forum is not like that at all, good helpful information, I’ve met some of the members, had rides out, camped out, been for meals, had drinks, had a laugh and on top of all this they’ve always excepted my young son (who is now 12 but was only 10 on our first meet up) as part of the gang and always made him feel welcome
A great bunch of guys on here :Group Hug:

Joined the forum in the August before I bought the bike in February. Glad of all the advice which is so readily given, and always relevant.

51 hours for me.

One of the best (and worst) things I ever did.......

The best, because as AMCQ46 and others have said, the help and support, along with the p*ss taking on the site, makes it one of the best forums that I have had the pleasure of being a part of.....

The worst, for the very same reason that the site is so active and popular, there is now no such thing as a "quick" check for new forum posts. Some nights I can`t get through the initial posts faster than updates keep appearing so 5 minutes turns into 3/4 of an hour......... 8O

Best of all, no-one judges anyones lack of knowledge and every question is answered without the patronising or sneering attitude that can be found on some forums.

Thanks to the admins, site staff and members for making this place what it is

I joined the 24th August 2009 9 days after buying my storm.

This forum has helped me get to know the bike inside and out and the information given is second to none.

I must admit I do feel a bit isolated being up here in Scotland but this year I have met 2 new members who are both within 10 miles.

I think you are a great bunch of people and hope we can meet up sometime when we all do operation storm Scotland.

Hellride I love Sweden as a country it is very similar in a lot of ways to Scotland. I got married there 2 years ago and it holds many special memories for me. Welcome to the forum.

Cheers Jazz!!
I've been planning a trip to Scotland for years now but the missis is not to keen on riding ona bike. Haven't given up yet though!
A fellow swed stormer took a trip to the scots and then he posted the pics on the swed forum.
Didn't make me a bit jealous at all........

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
