19ltr tank fuel tap ?

Post by FENNER »

Morning all

This may be a stupid question but I'm going to do my cct's and reading through the info about fitting them has lead me to think that there isn't a manual fuel tap on the 19ltr tanks ? So my question is, how will I stop the fuel coming out ?

Cheers Tony

best thing to do m8 is go for a ride, near enough empty it so the tank doesnt weigh a ton then put a towel on the subframe, turn the tank onto the towel and crimp the hose with a pair of molegrips - or pull the pipe off and plug it with an m10 bolt.

if you do place it on the subframe, obviously be carefull you dont knock it off, and also that you turn it back the same way when you refit it to avoid putting a twist in the fuel line.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

You can just pivot the tank up at the front and prop it there- the screws in the airbox are accessible then, and everything else is visible.
As long as the tank isn't brimmed it won't leak.

Same procedure for balancing carbs.

I was shown this a while ago by the dyno tech at HM racing, Edenbridge, Kent, when I was experimenting between runs with different airboxes- he swapped them in minutes.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Thanks for the replies, I'm a clumsy bugger so will probably mole grip the pipe and lift the tank off then. I can't believe that Mr Honda didn't put some sort of tap in there !
