Yes read most of this somewhere before..
Pity hes in the states .. I'm sure there are companies in the uk who could make up a custom spring to suit you and bike and mods .. But I'm guessing the cost may be a much as a hagon replacement shock .. Hmm

Ps how would a storm look in cafe racer guise .. ?
Just watch out for the import duty.

I run a Hagon with remote, it's a fairly good shock, much better than the original, but nowhere near as good as a top-flight one.
You spend your money....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Or surely there are other mono shocks that have remote adjusters that are a closer match in terms of length .. ?

There's plenty of shortier ones, hence why he uses the quite common F4i shock.

He can respring for different rider weights

Cheers for the links Wicky, interesting reading.

Am I getting this correct? A cbr600f4 shock will fit to the storm if you extend the lower clevis by 30mm.
I contacted the guys at FTR Suspension today and they said they would be able to fit an uprated progressive spring that would be matched to my weight for 78 quid plus vat which I thought was ok.

Would it make difference if the lower clevis or the upper one was extended to 30mm. Surly an extension bracket would not be that difficult to fabricate??

Anybody got any thoughts?

Seeing as you asked  my opinion is, if you are going to get another shock get the correct length item for the bike, anything less is going to be a compromise. I can't see Honda using a longer shock as standard if a shorter one (from the parts bin/store cupboard) from an already current model would have done the job. It's longer for a reason.

I fitted a Maxton spring matched to my body weight to the standard Firestorm shock. For the money IMHO it is a good upgrade. Obviously a new trick shock would be better, but until I can afford that I'm happy with the Maxton spring.
