Ok so the manuals are in now.
Just a quick Q.
When I crank the engine over using the ratchet, not the starter, it doesn't feel smooth.
Sort of stiff and then easy.
IS THIS CORRECT!!!
Cheers

I have followed the advice for adjusting them.
Finger tight then back off a 1/4 turn.

you are feeling the valve springs compressing..... that is normal.
what you dont want to feel is it suddenly locking up solid, ie valve meeting top of piston!

Have you taken the spark plugs out?

TBH, I never bother taking the plugs out, unless you plan to change them.
But don't use a ratchet driver to turn the engine; use a fixed bar.
If the engine rotates a bit by itself as it rolls over TDC, you'll lose track of how many turns you have rotated it.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

main question is, does it pull clean to the redline, with no hesitation 6-7k?>>>>
if it revs ok then job well done - you may now merrily thrash the tits off it without worrying about cct failure.
